FROM OUR PASTOR
Grace and Peace to you, church, from God and our Savior Jesus the Christ.
On July 15, 2017 I was ordained into the Ministry of Word and Sacrament by Bishop Daniel G. Beaudoin of the Northwestern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It was a perfectly beautiful day in each and every way! As the Bishop placed his hand on my head and as
other Rostered Leaders laid their hands on me tears began to freely flow. I felt the Holy Spirit as never before. It was truly indescribable… In that moment I was sent. I was sent from all things familiar to an unfamiliar place to do one thing, share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The New Testament Reading that day was from Romans Chapter 10
13 For, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
14 But how are they to call on one in whom they have not
And how are they to believe in one of whom they have never heard?
And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him?
15 And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent?
As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
This was also the New Testament Reading on August 13th, my first Sunday as your pastor. (Sometimes the Holy Spirit really knows what she’s doing!) It is humbling to be called Pastor and to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ each week. It is also humbling to be sent for this work among you.
Where is the Holy Spirit sending you? Where is the Holy Spirit sending us together? These questions will not be answered straight away, it will take time.
In this time together we will:
learn and discern, share and care,
shout, sing, and ring,
praise and ponder God’s ways,
shed a few tears and calm many fears,
pray for the Holy Spirit each day,
walk and talk with Jesus who frees us,
open our hearts for this is where sending starts…
May God who calls us all Beloved Children bless our time together and send us out to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to a hurting world. Amen
